John Davis grew up in Canton and is a graduate of Canton High School. John is a graduate of Bradley University in Peoria with a Bachelor of Music Education degree.
As a music educator John has worked with all ages from elementary through adult. John has taught music at Eastview Elementary School, Ingersoll Middle School, Canton High School, Manual High School, Rosevelt Magnet School, and Spoon River Valley Unit Dist. #4.
John held the position of Assistant Director for Liturgical Music, Diocese of Peoria. John has performed with the New York City Opera and has been a soloist with the Cleveland Orchestra. John has performed in or directed over fifty musical shows for the Fulton County Playhouse, Eastlight Theater, The Public Theater Company, and Corn Stock Theater.
John has directed choirs that performed at the Inauguration of President George Herbert Walker Bush in 1989; Three White House Christmas performances (1990, 1994, 1998); American Choral Director’s Association Regional Convention in Chicago; Illinois Music Educators Association at the Illinois State Capitol; Performed with John Denver in concert, Peoria Civic Center; Three European Concert tours; and eight professional recordings.
John is active in the community though his conducting of the Spoon River College Community Chorus and American Legion Post 16 baseball.
